OpenAI has launched its Codex desktop app for Windows. After debuting on macOS last month, the San Francisco-based AI giant is expanding access to its AI-powered coding assistant for developers using Windows. The company announced that the app is now available through the Microsoft Store.
The Windows version delivers the full Codex experience, including a native agent sandbox and support for Windows developer environments in PowerShell. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), OpenAI said, “Get the full Codex app experience on Windows with a native agent sandbox and support for Windows developer environments in PowerShell.” This allows developers to integrate the app directly into their existing workflows without switching to Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) or virtual machines.
