Nepali Developer Launches Platform to Help Migrants Prepare for Driving Licence in New Zealand

Auckland, New ZealandA Nepali developer has launched an online platform aimed at helping Nepali migrants in New Zealand prepare for their driver licence and understand the local road rules more easily.

Kshitiz Paudel, originally from Bardiya, Nepal, has developed the website NZ Driving Tests to support newcomers who often face challenges navigating the New Zealand driving system.

With a growing number of Nepali students and workers arriving in New Zealand each year, many struggle with the learner licence theory test, unfamiliar road rules, and the process of converting their overseas driving licences. Recognising this gap, Paudel created a platform that simplifies learning and provides structured guidance tailored to the needs of the Nepali community.

“Many Nepali people find it difficult to understand the New Zealand Road Code at first,” said Paudel. “I wanted to create something that makes the process easier, clearer, and more accessible for our community.”

The platform offers a range of features, including:

  • Practice tests based on the New Zealand Road Code
  • Topic-wise learning modules covering road rules and signs
  • Guidance on converting overseas licences
  • Easy-to-understand explanations for beginners

Paudel said the main goal of the initiative is to increase confidence among learners and improve their chances of passing the theory test on their first attempt.

In addition to helping individuals pass their tests, the platform also aims to promote safer driving habits among new drivers by providing accurate and practical knowledge of New Zealand’s road regulations.

Community members have welcomed the initiative, noting that such resources are particularly valuable for migrants adjusting to a new country’s systems and requirements.

Paudel plans to expand the platform further by introducing Nepali-language content, video tutorials, and real-life driving scenarios to make learning even more effective.

As the Nepali community continues to grow in New Zealand, initiatives like this highlight the role of technology and community-driven solutions in easing the transition for newcomers.
